AFRO-POP singer Zinhle Ngidi is threatening that she will never perform with Dbn Nyts again.
On Saturday night, Zinhle and the five member group won the best duo/group album for Shumaya at the Metro FM
Music Awards held in Durban.
But behind closed doors, a cold war has been brewing. After performing on stage earlier in the evening, Zinhle had to
spend the evening in the dressing-room because she didn’t have a ticket.
Then when the award was announced, the group went on the stage and once again Zinhle was humiliated.
The five men celebrated in the spotlight and Zinhle was forced to stand behind them, trying to look over their shoulders.
“I went on stage with them and held their hands but they pushed my hand away,” she said.
After being ignored on stage by the guys, a hurt Zinhle poured her heart out in a tweet: “The reason I missed my 2
shows (Botswana & Jozi) was to help Dbn Nyts & their poor management on stage. Next time I’ll know
better...#MMA15.”
Her manager, Buti Sithole of 1st JHB Music, said they were told about doing the show with Dbn Nyts just two weeks
before the awards.
“We had other arrangements. She missed two big gigs but they didn’t show any appreciation,” he said.
Buti said he was planning to meet Dbn Nyts’ record company, Kalawa Jazmee.
“My artist and I have a good relationship with Oskido. We will try and guide these kids and find a solution that will work
for both parties,” he said.
Oskido told Daily Sun he didn’t know about the problems because he saw the artists on stage together.
“I will try and sort out their differences because both acts need each other. This is a family thing,” said Oskido.
