DJ S’BU has been off the airwaves since he was fired by Metro FM for advertising his energy drink at the radio station’s music awards.

However, the former Friends Like These presenter might soon be back on air.

DJ S’bu, whose real name is Sibusiso Leope, is said to be joining KZN-based commercial radio station Vuma FM from 1 July.

According to sources, he might be presenting one of the station’s two biggest shows, the Kwasa Breakfast Show or Vuma FM Drive.

The sources said the radio station’s management was planning to make major changes to draw in more listeners.

Many presenters have apparently been left fearing for their jobs.

“We all know that people love DJ S’bu.

“The radio station’s management is hoping he will bring in more listeners,” said the source.

Other sources said bringing DJ S’bu on board would mean that either Linda Sibiya or Mathumo Manaka would be left jobless.

However, a Zulu newspaper on Sunday reported that Sibiya might be leaving Vuma FM.

Sibiya didn’t confirm or deny the claim.

Another source said new programmes manager Patrick Bogatsu was giving some presenters sleepless nights.

“Before Bogatsu joined Vuma, he was at Gagasi FM.

“Some of the presenters at Vuma were fired from Gagasi while Bogatsu was operations manager there.

“They fear he might victimise them,” said the source.

Vuma FM managing director, Tony Malan, confirmed that DJ S’bu might be joining the station.

“He will be presenting the afternoon drive or breakfast show but it will all depend on the negotiation of his contract.

“Let us finish negotiations before commenting,” he said.

When contacted for comment, DJ S’bu said: “We are in talks about a possible partnership.”
