HIP HOP STAR Kwesta loves his beer but he is not on drugs.

The star of Ngud’ told Daily Sun this yesterday after social media went crazy, accusing him of being high during an interview on MetroFM’s The Real Phat Joe on Saturday morning.

But Kwesta, who seems to be slurring in the 30-second podcast of the interview posted by Pearl Thusi, has an explanation.

The jury is still out.

“I do not do drugs and neither does anyone in my crew. I do not like people who spread lies,” he said.

“I was performing at Taboo in Sandton where Afro-pop duo Mafikizolo was having an event. My performance was at 4am and my interview with Metro FM was at 7am. You can just imagine. I had not slept,” he said.

The musician’s hit track Ngud’, a kasi name for a 750ml quart of beer, said he understood that he was in the firing line.

With the current success of his song Ngud’, featuring fellow rapper Cassper Nyovest, the Katlehong-born entertainer said he was very happy that he has had such an amazing journey.

“I understand. Whether I do good or bad, people are going to throw punches,” he said.

“I am happy that I can now play at more places and reach a lot of people.”
