THE excitement for this year’s Carling Black Label
Champions Cup is hitting fever pitch with DJs Cleo and Tira campaigning for
their respective teams.
The two popular DJs and producers were specifically selected by SAB
in its quest to fill up FNB Stadium in Joburg and Sahara Stadium Kingsmead in
Durban on 30 July.
DJ Tira, whose real name is Mthokozisi Khathi, and Cleopas Monyepao
aka DJ Cleo will be rallying behind Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates
respectively.
While over 94 000 enthusiastic Chiefs and Pirates supporters will
be welcoming the new PSL season with a Soweto derby at FNB Stadium, the
performers will be crossing swords at Kingsmead where they will host a Fan
Park.
“It is no secret that I am a Pirates supporter,” said Cleo.
“It is important that as celebrities we come out in the open and
declare to people that we support sport.
“Sport and music go hand in hand. It is all about entertainment,”
said Cleo, who reckons new Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral will start his new job
with a big upset against Chiefs.
Tira admitted that Amakhosi have made wholesome changes and this
was a good sign of success.
He said: “There is William Twala and Ramahlwe Mphahlele. Our coach
is hungry for success. Those eight new players must be voted in by the
supporters to shock Pirates on the day.”
Tira believes Chiefs striker Bernard Parker will bring in all the
entertainment by scoring all the important goals.
He added that goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, who is leading the voting
pack with 130 402 votes, will keep a clean sheet.
But Cleo also believes his team’s goalie, Brighton Mhlongo, who
boasts 88 295 votes, will also be out to keep a clean sheet.
The only thing that the duo agreed on was that they expect a capacity crowd at both FNB Stadium and Kingsmead.
