AWARD-WINNING producer Tweezy is slowly making his mark as a hip hop artist.
Not only was he featured on Kwesta’s Day One alongside AKA, he has also released a number of his own hot singles.
The 23-year-old is also the brains behind some of the biggest songs in South African hip hop, such as AKA’s All Eyes On Me and Run Jozi, as well as Dlala Ka Yona by L Tido.
Now the Durban-born musician, whose real name is Tumelo Mathebula, has released the remix of his hit single, titled Ambitions.
The remix features Mzansi’s own Khuli Chana, Ice Prince from Nigeria and Victoria Kimani from Kenya.
Speaking to SunBuzz, Tweezy said: “I was amazed that these artists loved the song and were willing to work with me to make the remix a success.”
He said gaining recognition has not been an easy mission.
“People are starting to recognise my name, but now it’s time they put a face to it,” said the young producer.
Tweezy promised to release his mix tape, titled Fuego, once the Ambitions remix reaches 100 000 downloads. He has been nominated for the upcoming African Muzik Magazine Awards.
“This has been a very exciting year for me.
“I encourage my fans to vote for me.
“To cast your vote, visit www.afrimma.com, click on the nominees tab, scroll down to the Music Producer of the Year category and vote for me,’’ said Tweezy.
When the SunTeam asked him how he decides which beats to sell and which ones to keep for himself, he said: “I always have someone in mind when I make a beat, so it’s not that difficult.”
