TUMI Morake has been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home in Joburg.

The TV and radio personality was in a serious car accident on the R556 road on Friday while travelling to Sun City with her husband and three children.

Her sponsored Jaguar F-Pace was written off after a head-on collision with another car.

Her publicist Monica Steyn said: “She is fine and luckily sustained minor injuries. She was discharged from a private hospital near Sun City on Saturday.”

Steyn said all 10 people involved in the accident sustained minor injuries and had already been released from hospital.

The crash caused an uproar on social media when some users made insensitive comments about the incident.

In September, Tumi faced a backlash after she compared apartheid to a bully taking a child’s bicycle and later wanting to share it on Jacaranda FM.

Comments made on social media were shared on Twitter. Some said the accident was blind justice and karma, while others took issue with the tweets that called her, among other things, a “racist b***h”.

Among the comments on Twitter:

  • Clinton Lee du Cellier: “Nice one, Tumi, Who are you going to blame this time? White guy on a bicycle is going to get accused. What goes around certainly came around for you this time.”

) Russel Pollitt: “To those who took to social media about the Tumi Morake accident to make callous and racist remarks, you should be ashamed of yourselves. You are the problem this country grapples with.”
