IT WAS no laughing matter for comedian Kedibone Mulaudzi when he walked into car thieves trying to steal his Jeep Wrangler.

He had to quickly adjust to what was happening in front of him!

“At first I got confused when I saw the men at my car. My first thought was I must be standing next to the wrong car.

“Then it hit me what was really happening. I screamed to a mall guard to help me,” said the comedian.

Kedibone said he had taken his two children and a few of their friends to the Mall of Africa in Midrand on Thursday.

It was his son’s birthday so they had gone to buy him a cake and a present.

As they were walking back to the parking area, Kedibone noticed a man sitting in his car. Two others were standing around it.

He said: “When I screamed the men jumped into a nearby car and sped off.”

Kedibone then ran to paramedics in a nearby car and urged them to help stop the thugs who were getting away.

Fortunately for him, cops saw what was happening and gave chase in their car.

The thugs were arrested not far from the mall.

“I managed to get back my laptop that was stolen,” Kedibone said.

A spokesman for the Midrand police confirmed that a case of theft has been opened.

“Three suspects have been arrested and the case is under investigation. They have not been granted bail as they have previous convictions,” he said.

Mall of Africa spokeswoman Zenet Mathiga said they were aware of reported theft cases but most did not happen inside the mall.

“We have a close relationship with the police and Fidelity Security, which guards the mall 24 hours a day,” she said.
