GOSPEL star Thinah Zungu (28) has been flying high ever since he won Best Gospel Song in 2011 and Best Songwriter in 2012.
But on Wednesday, God’s singing follower found himself bust by the law. This after he was caught doing some low flying, going past cops at 210km/h in his flashy Jaguar.
The cops pulled the gospel man over on the N3 near Villiers in Free State, where the speed limit is 120km/h.
He was arrested but managed to avoid sleeping in the cells after he paid bail.
He claimed he was running late for a performance when he was caught on his way from Durban.
The gospel singer from Inanda, KZN was driving his white 2016 model Jaguar.
Remorseful Thinah told Daily Sun: “I was rushing to a performance, but I feel bad for what happened and I am sorry.”
His manager, Themba Mthembu, said the singer called him after the incident, and he, too, apologised on his client’s behalf.
“He was rushing for an event but that is not an excuse.
“From now on he will be driving at 120km/h,” said Mthembu.
Free State traffic spokesman Kabelo Moloabi said the incident happened at about 6pm on Wednesday.
“The driver was arrested and later released on R7 500 bail,” said Moloabi.
Thinah was charged with exceeding the speed limit and will appear in the Villiers Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
