UZALO actress, Dawn Thandeka King, has ventured into the music industry.
The star, who plays Mangcobo in the popular SABC1 telenovela, is in studio recording her first single.
She has teamed up with
Durban-based producer, Dust Nkosi, who will produce and record her song.
The single will be released under KaMavuso Verse Entertainment, which is owned by Ukhozi FM’s news anchor, Bongani Mavuso.
Not only does Mangcobo act and sing, she’s also a ballroom dancer and a sangoma.
Her sound is Afro-soul with strong traditional elements.
According to her, performing music is a special calling.
She said: “I’m a spiritual being who’s always guided by an ancestral calling in everything I do.”
Bongani said Mangcobo approached and asked him to listen to her demo.
He was impressed and didn’t hesitate to agree to record her under his stable.
The single will be out in a few weeks’ time.
