We all have an ex we loved more than was deserved.

Rapper Patty Monroe’s single titled Reminiscing reminds us that even though some people don’t deserve our love, we need to keep on loving anyway.

The rapper reveals all the details of her previous relationship in the song.

Patty, whose real name is Megan Steenkamp, said: “The song is about an ex of mine who I loved very much.

“But my love wasn’t enough.

“That is when I learned that sometimes love isn’t enough and that’s fine.

“We all receive love in different ways.”

The 22-year-old told SunBuzz she realised it is not a crime to miss the good times you had with someone.

“It’s okay to miss someone.

“Getting over someone you loved dearly is a process and I don’t have to rush.

“It will happen naturally.”

Patty is currently shooting a music video for the song and said the storyline is about a modern Bonnie and Clyde.

“In the video, my boyfriend takes the fall for us because we robbed a bank and got caught.

“He takes the blame and does his time in jail,” said Patty.

She said the situation is different from what really happened, when she was the one who paid the price in her previous relationship.

“I gave too much. I would have cut my arm off for the guy but the experience gave me perspective.

“I got to know myself and accepted that I am one of those people who have a lot of love to give.”

Patty released her debut album,
Malatjie
early this year after successfully claiming her spot as one of the best women rappers in the country.
