FORMER TKZee family member, Sbu “AmaLawyer” Ntshangase, is angry!
This comes after the AmaLawyer hitmaker was invited to the SABC’s Metro FM Touchdown show on Friday by DJ Naves and DJ Sphectacula.
Sbu found out all his old kwaito songs had been removed from the station’s system.
An angry Sbu told Sunday Sun he’s gatvol with club DJ and Metro FM music compiler, Nkosinathi “DJ Nutty” Ntsele.
After the show Sbu posted on social media: I was at Metro FM with Branden, the producer for Naves and Sphectacular’s show, we were looking for my songs in the system to play during my interview.
I was very angry to see all our old kwaito songs have been removed from the system by Nathi, the compiler, so that the DJs can’t play them if they want to.
He only keeps his friends’ songs that you hear on radio every day. Don’t be surprised if you don’t hear kwaito classics on Metro FM.
When contacted, Sbu confirmed it was indeed his account and that he himself posted the update on Facebook.
“I was invited to the show as part of the kwaito revival slot. To my surprise, there was only one song that was in the system and that was Re batla Jaiva. There was no AmaDice, AmaLawyer or Abomzala.
“The producer of the show then called Nutty and he put AmaLawyer in the system and instructed the producer not to play my new song.
“This angered me because I have a new single and yet there’s someone who refuses to play it – because he wants me to pay him itshontsho (a bribe).
“I’ve been hearing stories that this guy only plays his friends’ music and those who paid him itshontsho.
“Nutty wants money from people to be playlisted on Metro FM. I’m sick of his attitude. Why is Metro FM and the SABC quiet about this? People talk about 90% local music, but that guy treated me as if I’m a foreigner in my own country,” Sbu claimed.
When asked if he’s contacted DJ Nutty, Sbu said: “I don’t to talk to that guy. I don’t want to be his friend. He should do his job and load our kwaito classic. If he doesn’t, then he should voetsek.”
DJ Nutty refused to comment.
SABC spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago, said if songs are not played on Metro FM, it doesn’t mean they’re not being played by the SABC.
“People musn’t personalise this thing. We can’t play all the songs all the time,” he said.
