SHE started her entertainment career as an accomplished musician whose name commanded respect from legends.
She then ventured into business and acting.
And now she is embarking on a journey into the world of broadcasting.
After a long break from the music scene, Nkiyase Mondlana is venturing into radio broadcasting.
Nkiyase, who was discovered by playwright Mbongeni Ngema, said she was bitten by the radio bug last year when she stood in for one of Alex FM’s presenters.
“I had lots of energy behind the mic.
“Presenting came naturally to me. I enjoyed all the shows I presented.”
Her passion for broadcasting impressed the station’s management, and they didn’t hesitate when she pitched an idea for her own slot called Nkiyase’s Lifestyle.
Nkiyase hosts a one-hour slot every Friday night between 11 and 12pm.
“The show highlights the beauty of Alexandra, as well as its rich heritage and vibrant lifestyle.
“Alexandra attracts people from different parts of Gauteng.
“We have amazing people in the township.
“They are all friendly and welcoming,” she said.
She also talks about the talent the kasi has – from artists to fashion designers. She also explores nice places to chill.
Nkiyase said she hasn’t closed the lid on her music career yet.
Her new single called Ka Lebota is climbing up music charts on radio stations across the country.
