MISS South Africa Ntandoyenkosi Kunene will jet out of the country today to represent Mzansi at the Miss Universe pageant.
Popularly known as Ntando, the 24-year-old beauty will compete against 85 contestants from all corners of the globe.
The big event will be held in Manila at the Mall of Asia Arena, Philippines, on Monday 30 January.
Ntando told SunBuzz: “I learned a great deal from my participation in Miss World and I am really looking forward to the Miss Universe pageant.
“I am also keen to meet other contestants from all over the world.”
The University of the Witwatersrand honours graduate from Mkhondo, Mpumalanga contested the Miss World pageant in the US last month.
“As the late Nelson Mandela said, education is the one tool that can be used to change the world. I want to pass this message on to the young women of South Africa.
“Education is vital and empowers them. It will be one of the key factors for SA’s socio-economic development,” said Ntando.
She hopes to emulate former Miss SA Margaret Gardiner, the winner of the Miss Universe beauty pageant in 1978.
Ntando will be dressed by fashion designer duo Quiteria & George.
Comedian and American talk show host Steve Harvey is coming back as a host of the pageant following his most embarrassing blunder last year when he made headlines for announcing the wrong winner.
