CONTROVERSY seems to be famous rapper Nasty C’s biggest follower.
The Metro FM Awards winner, whose record label allegedly “bought” four awards for his debut album Bad Hair Extensions, is embroiled in yet another scandal.
This time questions are being raised over the credibility of his Best Music Video category entry at the Samas.
Last week he received seven nominations for the Samas, including two nominations in the best music video category.
According to the entry rules by RiSA, all music videos submitted must have been flighted by a TV broadcaster in South Africa during the period 1 December 2015 to 31 January 2017.
But there is no record of Nasty C’s songs being played by TV stations since the tracks were released.
The songs in question are Don’t Do It and Good Girls, which were only released on YouTube in March this year.
Mabala Noise spokesman Mhlo Gumede said they’d adhered to the rules and they didn’t nominate their rapper.
“So if there are people that you need to question, it’s RiSA,” he said.
RiSA CEO, Advocate Nhlanhla Sibisi, said the videos were submitted for entry on 24 January this year, and they are waiting for broadcasters to confirm the date of their first broadcast.
“We will issue a formal statement as soon as we get confirmation, and undertake to conclude the matter on or before Tuesday.”
