LEGENDARY radio presenter Tim Modise is leaving Power FM.
And so is Thabiso Sikwane, wife of popular Thato “DJ Fresh” Sikwane. The two were part of the radio station’s relaunch team.
Tim’s departure has shocked a lot of his fans who felt he still had much to offer the radio station.
Tim believes his contributions can still be heard on his TV show, Tonight with Tim Modise.
The show airs on Soweto TV at 7.30pm from Monday to Thursday.
Tim said: “My focus will now be on my TV show because I don’t have any immediate plans.”
The news of Tim’s departure wer announced by the station’s owner Given Mkhari yesterday morning. According to the station’s managing director Andile Khumalo, the departure of Tim and Thabiso is part of many changes at the station.
“From 29 February, Power FM is shaking things up with changes to its on air line-up,” said Khumalo.
Replacing Tim will be SABC Morning Live news anchor and producer Ayanda-Allie Paine, who will be joined by Lawrence Tlhabane.
Lawrence is moving from his weekday evening show Power Perspective.
Another new voice will be author and commentator Onkgopotse JJ Tabane, who will be taking over from Lawrence.
Iman Rappetti, Jeremy Maggs, Andile Khumalo, Masechaba Ndlovu and Victor Kgomoeswana will continue to present their shows.
Aphelele Somi, who presents Power Weekends, will now host Power Lunch, which was presented by Thabiso.
Thabiso Tema will present the Power Drive, while Hajra Omarjee will be the station’s political editor.
“The changes are in line with its quest for continuous improvement on its on-air product,” Khumalo said.
