NORTH WEST Premier Supra Mahumapelo and Themba Gwabeni are known to be political enemies.
But the two ANC bigwigs have been forced to get along by their children.
Sunday Sun can reveal Mahumapelo’s daughter and Gwabeni’s son are lovebirds. And the two opponents share a grand-child!
It’s alleged Mahumapelo is gatvol with Gwabeni – who is the former mayor of Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality.
Sources close to the situation said Mahumapelo wants his daughter to dump Gwabeni’s son.
Gwabeni is known as part of an ANC faction which is campaigning against Mahumapelo as the North West premier and ANC chair.
Gwabeni said: “Our differences must not in any way affect our children.
“If I want to see my grandchild, I will do so without anyone’s permission. My grandchild is a Gwabeni.
“I respect Supra.
“I believe that he would never stoop so low as to influence his daughter in her relationship with my
son.”
One source claimed: “Supra and Gwabeni are involved in a bitter political spat but this does not seem to have any impact on their children.
“The families were brought together by this new baby, but the two grandfathers are not making peace.”
It was reported that Gwabeni accused Mahumapelo of ensuring he did not remain chairman of North West Transport, a bus company owned by the provincial government.
The mole said: “Supra doesn’t want his grandchild to have anything to do with the Gwabenis.
“Supra told his daughter to dump Gwabeni’s son, telling her that he would never have a son- in-law who sides with his political enemy.
“And Gwabeni wants his son to have custody of the child, it’s turning into a nasty battle.”
Mahumapelo’s two phones were off, but his spokesperson, Bridgette Mogakwe, confirmed the two politicians share a grandchild: “Yes, I can confirm that Gwabeni and Premier Mahumapelo’s kids have a child together.
“The Premier stated to me he wished he and Gwabeni should guide and support their kids towards the upbringing of the grandchild.”
