COMEDIAN Thenjiwe Moseley said being part of a Nigerian film helped her see things differently.
She stars in the movie 10 Days In Sun City, which was released in June.
Speaking to SunBuzz, Thenjiwe said
being part of the Nollywood comedy taught her something about film.
“This movie uses African solutions to solve African problems,” she said.
“It portrays Africa in a positive manner. We’re promoting African tourism, and there is more to Africa than HIV and crime.”
The movie is about a millionaire who abuses beautiful women and tries to solve the problem by spending money on them.
“In the movie, I’m helping Akpos, played by comedian Ayo Makun, who is trying to get his girlfriend back,” said Thenjiwe.
“We try to rescue the other women from the millionaire, but only manage to save
Akpos’ girlfriend.”
She learnt that comedy not only focuses on humour, but that you have to send a certain message to the audience.
“As a comedian, I’m used to improvising and the focus is to make people laugh. But that’s not the case when it comes to making a movie. You have to make sure you stick to the script and not lose the storyline.
“I was inspired by my fellow actors because they came prepared.
“They knew their lines by heart and were professional.”
She told SunBuzz she wouldn’t hesitate to shoot a Nigerian film again.
“I’d definitely do it again because you learn a lot of things from different people,” said Thenjiwe.
“This film has helped me look at life differently.”
10 Days In Sun City was shot in North West.
