Award winning South African rapper, Khuli Chana returned to the country last week from what he calls a “mind-blowing” experience at the 2017 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
The rapper described the experience as magic. “It’s probably how every kid feels watching a magician,” he said.
The magic of the biggest music award show in the world has inspired the Motswako rapper, whose real name is Khulani Morule to dream bigger and change the way he presents his art.
“You think you’ve experienced everything until you go to the Grammys,” he said.
Khuli wore local designers MaXhosa by Laduma, Skorzch, and Simon and Mary to the awards because he felt that the moment should not just be about him.
“It is a huge responsibility, and there is a lot that has to change,” he said.
Khuli is currently working on a new documentary with Harley Davidson, plus a campaign with Red Bull that will focus on social entrepreneurship.
His top 5 highlights of the Grammys were:
• Everything about Beyonce
• Katy Perry’s performance
• The Weekend and Daft Punk’s performance
• Bruno Mars’ performance
• Adele’s acceptance speech and performance.
