IT’S been a year since she was axed at Gagasi FM, but it looks like the wound is still bleeding.
The former content producer and co-presenter of Alex and the Morning Crew, Jacinta Ngobese, lambasted the station on Facebook for terminating her contract.
Jacinta took to Facebook to express the pain she went through following the termination of her contract last year. Jacinta, who is now with Vuma FM, accused Gagasi FM of spreading lies by saying she had “moved on to greener pastures”
“I was unemployed for six months after my contract ended. I spent my Christmas broke and had to depend on my mum, so how can that be greener pastures?” Jacinta wrote on her Facebook page.
Her outburst started when listeners brought her name up as the subject after the station had posted an announcement on Facebook.
Listeners decided not to entertain the announcement and instead started asking questions about Jacinta’s departure.
One listener commented on Gagasi FM’s post, saying: “You guys decided to fire Jacinta and ended a good show. You guys are boring.”
Gagasi FM replied by saying: “Jacinta was never fired. Her contract ended and she moved to greener pastures.”
Gagasi FM spokesman, Khulekani Shandu, admitted the replies were misleading.
“Our digital manager is still new, and as a radio station, we admit he made a mistake when touching on Jacinta’s issue.”
The station has since posted an apology.
Jacinta said she’s not holding a grudge.
She said all she did was to provide the correct information to the listeners on how she was dismissed. “I didn’t want to sit back and look on while wrong information was spread about my name,” said Jacinta.
