IT WAS an all-white affair as friends, family, fans and colleagues gathered to bid farewell to Lara Kruger.
Shortly before her death, the Motsweding FM presenter went on Facebook to instruct her loved ones and fans to wear white clothing at her funeral.
Lara’s funeral was held at Mogwase in Rustenburg, North West, on Saturday.
According to her family, Lara was in grade 6 when she revealed her sexual orientation to her mum.
This was after she told her teacher she was transgender.
In a letter read to the mourners, Laura’s mum Connie Lehulere spoke about how she never had morning sickness when she was pregnant with Lara.
“I learnt so many things from her. Now no one will call me Doll anymore,” read the letter.
TV personality Somizi Mhlongo also wrote a letter to the late radio presenter.
“This is not the first time I’ve spoken about this. I have said it via text and to your face.
“You always gave to others but never to yourself.
“You told me how frustrated you were at work.
“You put on a happy face for the world, yet you were dying inside,” read the letter.
Criselda Kananda-Dudumashe asked the mourners to ululate and whistle, saying that was what Lara would have wanted.
