FERRY Jele says she will never leave acting.
“It’s the air that I breathe,” she told Daily Sun.
She plays the role of Gadifele on Rhythm City.
“She a con artist who robs people of their RDPs.
“She has teamed up with her boyfriend Vincent,” said Ferry, who lives in Mamelodi, Tshwane.
Ferry said eveything you do has consequences, just as Gadifele found out when she was arrested.
“I’m completely different from this ruthless character.
“I’m human and wouldn’t trick people. I’d rather work for my money.”
Ferry said people who behave like Gadifele must be arrested and rot in jail.
She appeared on Ashes to Ashes as Ma Khoza.
“She was Sello Namane’s nyatsi.
“She would bail him out whenever he was in financial trouble,” said Ferry.
She said her best role was playing Thuli Ngwenya in Society.
“Playing a lesbian was challenging. I was out of my comfort zone. We need more roles like that to educate people about gays and lesbians.”
Ferry is also the director and translator for Scandal! and the dialogue coach for Rhythm City.
“I make sure the spoken language is correct so that viewers can understand what is being said,” said Ferry.
“Help others to achieve their dreams and you will achieve yours. That’s what I do as a coach.”
She has also appeared in the TV series Muvhango, Generations and Skeem Saam.
She said good actors always prepare well and work in harmony with other artists.
“If you are able to share, you help fellow actors and the activity on set.”
Ferry obtained a national diploma in drama and theatre from Technikon Natal in 1996 and then played in Milestones as a village girl.
“I worked with Gloria Bosman, Sello Motloung, Sibongile Khumalo and Owen Sejake. I was so nervous I thought I’d forget my lines.”
But she said Milestones opened the door for Blues of Biko and Bozzoli.
