GOSPEL singer Dr Tumi followed in Cassper Nyovest’s footsteps and filled up The Dome on Sunday!
Despite only having had a month and a half to prepare for his Gathering of Worshippers event, he managed to sell all the tickets available.
The seating capacity at the Ticketpro Dome is 20 000.
“The support I received has been overwhelming. What was most exciting about the show was when the crowd sang along to my songs,” he said.
Dr Tumi revealed that music fans came from as far away as Malawi, Ghana, Lesotho, Botswana and Tanzania to support him.
“One story that touched me was that of a guy from Ghana, whose entire family collected money to pay for his flight to South Africa to attend. He is also a musician and he said he wanted inspiration.
“This show stood on the shoulders of my supporters, who have generously backed my career. Thank you, family. I can never thank you enough for all you’ve done for me.
“I’m also indebted to the sponsors who threw their weight behind this project.
“Let this be further proof that if you dream, anything is possible for the black child.”
He was supported by Omega Khunou, Neyi Zimu and Mahalia Buchanan.
Speaking about his future plans, he said: “I’m considering taking time off before we start editing the live DVD and CD.”
Dr Tumi has a lot more to look forward to as he recently signed an international deal with Universal Music, which will see his work released in many countries.
“This means I will have a lot of international bookings.”
