DEBORAH Fraser has been through many hardships but she thanks God for saving her life.
Speaking to Daily Sun, she described the difficulties she has faced. “There was a time when I thought my life was over, but God held my hand and walked with me,” she said.
The gospel singer said her misery started when she married Nigerian Pastor Sockey Okeke of the
Macy Chapel Church. “I thought marrying a pastor would help me grow spiritually, but instead it broke me. I don’t want to dwell on the abuse. I thank God for leading me out of that marriage.” And the award-winning singer said she lost a lot of weight after she was diagnosed with diabetes in 2012. “People, including those I trusted most, started gossiping and said I was dying. I didn’t get the support I needed at that time, so I turned to God.”
To add to her misery, her 13-year-old daughter was also diagnosed with diabetes in 2014.
“She was running away from a monkey and fell. She was injured and had to be rushed to hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with diabetes.” Deborah fell out with some of the people close to her when they spread false rumours about her having an affair with the late Soul Brothers’ singer David Masondo. She has documented her journey on her new album called Uhambo.
