DJ Capital hopes his new single, Skebe Dep Dep, will be the soundtrack to good times for his fans this month.

Club DJ and TV presenter DJ Capital wants people to have a good time this festive season.

His latest single, Skebe Dep Dep, was released last Friday and features rappers Reason, Kid X and Kwesta.

The title is a reference to an old school dance that was popular in Sophiatown.

Born Siyabonga Sibeko, DJ Capital said Kwesta wrote the chorus and when the DJ heard it, he decided to call the song Skebe Dep Dep because it was catchy and represented what they were trying to do, which is to have fun.

DJ Capital said he decided to release the song towards the end of the year because he wants to challenge the belief that artists need to release a song at a certain time if they want it to be a festive hit.

Skebe Dep Dep is a fun rap song that you can also dance to, which is very rare.

“Songs with good lyrics don’t usually get people dancing but this one is different.

“Psyfo produced the song and the rappers I featured are from the east, which is where I come from.

“I thought it would be a good idea to have them all on one song because they are very talented.”

He told SunBuzz he has already shot a music video for the single and the dance they filmed is totally different to the Sophiatown version.

“When people hear the song I want them to have fun and appreciate how skilful these lyricists are.

“I want listeners to dance uncontrollably.”

The song is the second single he has released this year, the first being On Me.

DJ Capital said he is thinking of releasing his debut album next year.

“It’s time for me to release an album.

“Next year will be my tenth year in the industry.

“I didn’t plan to but it is only right that I release an album.

“I believe music is guided by feelings, and I feel ready to give the people good songs next year.”
