WHEN Sgwili Zuma parted ways with his best friend and former partner in music Babo Ngcobo in 2013, many thought his career was over.
His fans lost hope when newspapers were splashed with reports of his alleged financial misfortune.
But the gospel singer has been working hard on building his brand.
Now that he is about to release his DVD on 28 February, even he can’t believe how far he’s come!
The gospel singer, who also runs a campaign against the discrimination of people with albinism, surprised many when he announced his separation from popular gospel duo Sgwili no Baba.
Sgwili told SunBuzz that he never thought he would make it as a solo artist, but says he was inspired by other artists who assured him that he had what it takes.
He said: “Going solo was not an easy decision but it has been worth it.
“As a gospel artist I am an example to people who lack faith.
“So I had to prove to them that they can do anything as long as they have faith.
“I have released five solo albums and they are all doing very well.”
Sgwili’s DVD contains live performances of songs from his previous albums called Umhlatshelo, Vezizandla, Hamba Nami, UnguJehova and his latest album Jesus At Work.
He shot it live in July last year as part of his 10-year anniversary in the music industry.
Sgwili said he hoped his new DVD called Sgwili Live at Winston Churchill – Jesus At Work would revive hope and faith in his supporters.
