David Kau is gearing up for his hilarious new show!
The top comedian plans to kill two birds with one stone.
He told SunBuzz he is busy shooting his upcoming TV show to prepare for what he described as the greatest movie Mzansi will ever see.
On the show called It’s OK, We’re Family, David plays himself trying to make a movie and using his video blog to interview possible cast members.
The problem is that he lives at home with his adoptive father Mark Banks and his sister, played by Natasha Thahane from The Queen.
SunBuzz caught up with the comedian behind the scenes of his new show which is shot in a lounge setting.
He said: “I want everyone on this show from musicians and actors to comedians, celebrities and politicians.”
Skwatta Kamp’s Nkosana “Bozza” Nkosi and Lebo “Shugasmakx” Mothibe were preparing for their interview with David when they spoke to the People’s Paper.
Bozza said he would be honoured to be in the movie.
“I’ve learnt a lot from him in the three movies that he featured me in.”
David said he also plans to interview Thapelo Mokoena.
“He told me he’s done playing Mr Nice Guy. He wants to be the bad guy in this movie.”
Other cast members in his movie will include comedian Joey Rasdien, long-time friend and movie producer Kagiso Lediga, Mona Monyane from the movie Kalushi and Soso Rungqu from Isidingo.
He added that rapper Amu and singer Donald will provide the soundtracks for the movie.
“I’ve asked Dineo Ranaka to consider helping me with catering. I’m going to ask the public to send their songs and videos on social media.”
He believes social media has the power to uplift people.
He said he’s still unsure about when he’ll start shooting the movie but said he can’t wait to begin.
He started doing stand-up comedy in 1998.
Catch David on It’s OK, We’re Family starting on 7 July on SABC 3.
