RAPPERS Emtee and Cruz Afrika faced off in court yesterday as their fight over intimidation and defamation of character took centre stage.
The two appeared in the Edenvale Magistrates Court in Ekurhuleni, where Cruz Afrika is facing intimidation and defamation of character charges.
Emtee, on the other hand, is facing intimidation charges.
But the sparks everyone was expecting to see fizzled out quickly, as the case was postponed to 7 March because Cruz’s defence team was held up elsewhere.
Emtee arrived at the court and found his rival sitting comfortably in the gallery, waiting to be called to the stand.
After the court appearance, Emtee immediately took off in his Mercedes.
The feud started after Cruz released a controversial song that makes fun of Emtee.
On the song, titled Empty, Cruz accused Emtee and his friends of being devil worshippers.
The lyrics also suggest the mother of Emtee’s baby slept with one of Cruz’s friends.
“Lets talk about how your baby mama cheated on you. Lets talk about how she f***ed a n***er that’s in my crew,” read the lyrics.
Emtee, who rose to fame with his hit song Roll Up, didn’t take the lyrics well and allegedly threatened Cruz, who later laid charges against Emtee.
Cruz’s manager, Thami Nkosi, said he hoped both artists would bury the hatchet.
“We will wait to hear what’s going to happen on 7 March.
“Whatever problems they have, they need to make peace and move on.”
Publicist Eugene Cele Kings, who spoke on behalf of Emtee, said he does not get involved in the personal matters of artists.
The magistrate warned Cruz to refrain from saying nasty things about Emtee on social media, and told him not to perform at the same venue as his rival.
