AWARD-WINNING gospel star, Andile KaMajola, has been “robbed and
left stranded” at almost every border of Mzansi.
Allegedly, someone is using the singer’s name to swindle cash from
unsuspecting victims.
An unknown man has allegedly been calling high-profile people,
claiming to be Andile KaMajola.
One of the victims, who received a phone call, is gospel star Solly
Moholo.
Solly said he panicked after receiving a phone call from a man who
claimed to be Andile KaMajola.
Solly told Sunday Sun: “I was in studio when I got
the phone call. The man said he was Andile and needed help. He said he had been
hijacked at the Beitbridge border gate en route to
Zimbabwe.
“He said he and his band had lost their passports, Identity
Documents, CDs, cash, cellphones and laptops.”
Solly said he then tried to get the banking details so that he
could deposit cash.
“I also called Mzwakhe Mbuli to get more help,” he explained.
Solly was surprised when the SunTeam later informed him Andile was
nowhere near the Beitbridge border gate.
Mzwakhe said he was equally shocked by the news of the so-called
hijacking.
Andile said he was aware of a person who is going around the
country swindling people and claiming to be him.
“I’m angry and frustrated about this whole thing,” he said.
Andile said he was made aware of the impersonator early this
year.
“I’ve been receiving phone calls from concerned people asking if
I’m okay. Some wanted to deposit money, saying I had been robbed.
“Last week, I received a phone call from a woman who insisted on
helping me. She said a person said I had been robbed at the Swaziland border
gate. Later, another person called saying my car was broken into and people had
stolen my passports and money,” said Andile.
He said he tried to open a case with the police, but was turned
away several times.
“Police said I was not robbed, that’s why they can’t help me,” said
Andile.
