AWARD-WINNING rapper Cassper Nyovest agreed to join forces with the government for Mahika Mahikeng!
Cassper, who was staging his show called Welcoming the Prince of Maftown, will now be part of the new annual event.
Director of Arts and Culture in North West, Meshack Xaba, said officials sat down with Cassper and reached an agreement that he will be part of Mahika Mahikeng.
“He agreed to postpone his show to 24 December,” Meshack said.
He said they’re going to give the people of North West a Christmas to remember.
“We have the Sixties Party and Legends of House on the first weekend. That will be followed by Mahika Mahikeng,” said Meshack.
He said this was a show not to be missed.
“Call it a guilty pleasure or a longing for days gone by, but when you get the opportunity of a lifetime to see the first Motswako artist to fill up the Dome come back home to perform with HHP, Khuli Chana, Tuks, Fifi Cooper, Mo-Molemi, Chomza, Big Nuz, Dream Team, Riky Rick and KO, you just cant resist it,” he said.
Meshack added that the three-day festival starts on 11 December with an Afro-soul concert at the Convention Centre.
It will feature Nathi, Bonolo Molosiwa, Bucie, Donald and The Soil.
“On Saturday, we have the Motswako festival at Lotlamoreng Dam featuring HHP, Khuli Chana, Tuks, Fifi Cooper, Mo-Molemi, Chomza, Big Nuz, Dream Team, Riky Rick, KO, Kwesta and Cassper Nyovest,” Meshack said.
He said they’ll have the jazz festival on Sunday featuring Jaziel Brothers, Caiphus and Letta, Budaza, Oliver Mtukudzi, De Makhotla, KB, Tshepo Tshola, Quincy K, Mo Miles, Sereetsi & The Natives and Lucas Senyatso.
He said the festival will also feature a choral concert, a traditional dance and music extravaganza and a contemporary dance drama and a craft exhibition.
