MULTIPLE award-winning rapper, Cassper Nyovest, snubbed the South African Music Awards (Samas).
Last week, the Gusheshe hitmaker surprised many music fans when he posted that he doesn’t need a South African Music Award.
Sources said the artist snubbed the awards as he was in the US, lecturing at Stanford University.
Speaking to Sunday Sun, the 25-year-old rapper confirmed the allegations.
“Last week at Stanford, I gave a lecture on being an African artist influenced by western culture.
“I also had a show at the university the next day. I was blown away by the reception,” he said.
“I did a whole lot while I was out there, and shot a couple of things. I got into studio with the Black Thought and legendary Grammy-winning The Roots crew,” he said.
Cassper added: “Watch this space!
“War Ready is my next single – for Youth Month, as the song fits the theme.
“Check it out on my album Refiloe.”
When asked whether he will consider going back to finish school, he said: “I’ll follow my heart. If I ever have the desire to, then I’ll do so.
“For now I just want to create and inspire through my music.”
