MEDIA personality Bonang “Queen B” Matheba is the Africa face of Ipanema flip flops.

Named after the trend-setting neighbourhood of Ipanema, the place with a long tradition of dictating beach chic to the rest of the world, Queen B will be the brand’s ambassador, joining international model Brazilian-born Gisele Bundchen.

Bonang was announced as the face of Ipanema at a glittering event held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sandton last night.

Speaking to Daily Sun the excited MetroFM host said she flew to Rio for the shoot of the ad campaign.

She said: “I’m overwhelmed. I’ve been in the industry for 13 years and have never dreamed of adding another international deal to my list of accolades.

“I’m a little nervous but very excited about this new relationship.”

She said that her new Distraction range will be coming out for summer. And she will be awarding bursaries to 10 lucky girls on Christmas Day.

Apart from bagging Ipanema and Revlon, Queen B has been nominated for an ANN7 award in the Favourite Media Personality category.

She was nominated in the SA Afro Music Awards for Best Radio DJ. She also has shot a cover with UK publication Glam Africa and the US-based Afropolitan magazine.
