In his past four matches, the 59-year-old tactician has been on the end of some heavy defeats.

A 2-1 win over Al-Fateh was sandwiched in between an 8-0 loss to a Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al Nassr, a 5-0 defeat to Al Shabab, as well as a 4-0 loss to fellow relegation-threatened Al-Okhdood.

The three-time CAF Champions League-winning coach was appointed as Abha head coach at the beginning of year, with the mandate of keeping them in the Saudi top division.

While his side have been struggling of late, Friday evening presents another opportunity for his charges to escape the relegation zone.

It will, however, not be an easy task as they will be going up against Karim Benzema's Al Ittihad.

It looks as though the Saudi champions will be without their French captain, though, as he is nursing an injury, but Mosimane will likely still be wary of the offensive threat the Jeddah-based club possesses, even without their big-money acquisition.

According to Al Watan, the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns boss has subjected his players to intense tactical training in preparation for the match, with a large emphasis on closing the defensive areas, breaking quick on counter-attacks and putting pressure on opposition ball carriers.

Ittihad's set-pieces and how to deal with them are also believed to have been prioritised, with the Kagiso native looking to improve a defence that has leaked 26 goals in the 10 matches he has taken charge of.
