ACCUSED number one in the Nateniel Julies murder case, Caylene Whiteboy, will be grilled in the High Court sitting in Palm Ridge, Ekurhuleni on Wednesday, 17 March.

The three former Eldorado Park cops, Constable Whiteboy, Sergeant Simon "Scorpion" Ndyalvane, and Detective-Sergeant Voster Netshiongolo, are accused of killing Nateniel on 26 August 2020.

Nateniel was shot and killed during a protest action in Eldorado Park, south of Joburg.

After Whiteboy finished her testimony on Tuesday, 19 March, she was warned not to discuss the merits of the case with anyone. The trial will start from 17 to 19 April.

"Whiteboy, you are now in cross-examination, and are in no position to discuss the merits of the case with anyone, including your defense [lawyer]," said Judge Cassim Moosa.

During her testimony in March, Whiteboy reminded the court about the bullet that killed the late Nateniel.

Whiteboy told the court about a particular voicenote where the officers agreed at the scene that only one shot went off.

She said there was a spent bullet that went off from the back side of the moving car after she pulled the trigger from the passenger seat through the driver's window where the accused two sat.

"I was carrying an R5 rifle, and one of my colleagues asked me to shoot. I asked to shoot with which gun. I was then given a shotgun which I used to shoot through the window," Whiteboy said.

She also told the court she didn't know the ammunition.

"I didn't load the firearm. It wasn't my firearm. I got instruction from my commander at that time," said Whiteboy.

Her defence lawyer, Advocate Solomon Tshivhase, asked her if when she discharged the shotgun, she believed there were rubber bullets.

"Yes, according to my training, I was only trained on rubble bullets, and I don't know about these other shots," said Whiteboy.

She said the shotgun belonged to the state. Tshivhase asked Whiteboy if the gun had DNA evidence, and she said there wasn't any.

She said: "Colonel Sambo wiped the gun with sanitiser. I saw him wiping it. I don't know who used the gun before the incident."
