WHEN people listen to his music, they believe he's living the dream.
But Karabo Mohlala, a renowned jazz saxophonist, revealed the harsh reality of his life, stating he's barely making ends meet and living like a hobo.
Jazz musician's harsh reality
The 48-year-old artist from Joburg shared with Daily Sun the struggles of living from hand to mouth.
Karabo, who studied jazz music in 1993, has graced the stage with legendary musicians such as the late Hugh Masekela and Jonas Gwangwa.

Despite his impressive background, he finds himself in a difficult situation, unable to afford his 20-year-old son's education.
Plea for help
Karabo, who is also known for his acting, shared the difficulty of watching his talented son unable to pursue an aviation course due to financial struggles.
He's struggling to raise the R30 000 needed to cover his son's fees.
Speaking about his contribution to the music scene in Mzansi, Karabo expressed his sadness over being overlooked and struggling to secure gigs.
"It's very sad, especially being one of the artists who contributed to change in Mzansi. I feel left out in the cold. I'm appealing for gigs so that I can support my family," he said.
The struggle beyond talent
The renowned jazz saxophonist although he is struggling, he has not lost hope as he performs on the streets of Joburg trying to make a living.
He said he is a music teacher who doesn't have a job.
The former Generations actor said that he's a celebrity with nothing to show for it.
Karabo is calling for another opportunity to showcase his musical talent and is appealing to the national department of sport, arts, and culture for support during government events.
"I'm really struggling, and it's unfair," he said.
